As hard as it is for me to believe, in about a week I will be in Japan. For now all I can do is collect the last items I need for my exchange and spend as much time as possible with my family and friends. Half of the time I am super anxious and stressed and the other half I am beyond excited! But overall, absolutely psyched. My rotary jacket is currently sitting patiently in my closet waiting to be worn and my bedroom floor is covered with different piles of clothes, gifts, and other necessary travel doodads. My visa arrived today and it is the last thing I need other than tickets! The count down is ticking and I can't wait until next week!!
In the most recent weeks, I have been corresponding with both my host family and the exchange student coming to the US and with this, I have gotten even more excited. My host family is so kind and I cannot wait to meet them. They have really calmed my nerves! I am so very lucky to have them as my first family.
The exchange student I have been talking to has made me very excited for my school in Kanonji! They have so many clubs that I would love to join and I can't wait to meet all the students. I am automatically going to be part of the English club, which will be fun, but now I have the dilemma of which other club should I join. So far I think it will be either the choir, badminton, or tea ceremony club! I can't wait to try on my uniform and attend Kanonji high school. Four weeks left and I couldn't be more excited! In about seven weeks, I get to begin my exchange in Japan! I am will be going to a co-ed high school in Kagawa Prefecture, where I will get to wear a uniform! It's going to be very different and I know I am going to have a hard time adjusting to the language and culture, but I can't wait. I have spoken with my host parents and they are absolutely wonderful. My city of Kanonji is on the island of Shikoku and it is very near the sea. The island is famous for it's udon noodles and 88 temple pilgrimage around the island. I am so excited to go in August! While I am there I will try to post photos or blog at least once a week unless I just get too busy.
